JAMES NAYLOR, LPC
Hi, my name is James Naylor. I am a US licensed professional counselor who takes a humanistic approach to therapy working with clients from all over the world. I have lived as an expat for ten years with the past four being in Brazil. I have helped expatriates through the process of acclimatizing to new cultures, worked with high school students on issues related to the IB program, and counseled individuals from different cultures all over the world.
I started my practice working with common issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Over the years I have focused my education and training in the areas of crisis and trauma counseling. I take an existential approach to therapy where the client plays an active role in the process and I often incorporate mindfulness into the resolution of the challenges being experienced by my clients.
Life as an expat has allowed me to experience first hand the unique issues that come with this lifestyle. I began to expand my practice to be able to help others who are experiencing challenges in their expat life. This includes culture shock and cultural acclimation, dealing with prior expectations and unforeseen circumstances in both the social and professional context.
I strive to help people make new discoveries about themselves and the obstacles they face. My clients trust me to help them achieve the goals they have set for themselves. As someone who understands the transformative power of therapy, I am passionate about learning, listening, and bringing balance and wellness to the lives of my clients. I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, and if you or someone you love is going through a difficult time of depression, anxiety, or another mental health issue, please contact me to set up an appointment.
